As a multidisciplinary artist, I create text-based sound installations and figurative paintings.
Larger than life female-passing bodies that are frequently depicted in a violent altercation are what I paint.
I paint in monochrome, but I don't avoid contrasts: their skin's porous, delicate texture contrasts with their massive, heavy bodies. The connection of both strong and fragile bodies challenges the binary assumption that one can be only this or that.
In times of polarized politics and bodily disconnection it is essential to acknowldege that binarity, "either-or" thinking, is a tool of control. Being open to ambiguity is the refusal to follow patriarchal rules.
